1. Adenoids are the glands behind the soft palate, up in the mouth in the place where the nose is connected to the throat. Their function is to produce white blood cells – the antibodies that fight the infections. After some years they can disappear and in adults they are almost unseen.

2. Why remove the adenoids. A surgical operation of their removal is called adenoidectomy and it is performed when the adenoids are enlarged. This operation is not dangerous, because there are not many risks connected to the removal and consequences. Adenoidectomy is suitable for children, too. But there are come risks connected to the tolerance of the anesthesia, like allergies or troubled breathing.
